Building your own website is quick, cheap, and easy to do these days. Companies like IX Webhosting service will provide you with a domain name (www.yournamehere.com) a place on the Internet for you site to call home, and free tools to help you design and build a professional looking website.
Never Change Your Email Address Again!
One of the best things about owning your own website is that you own the email address and never have to change it if you switch Internet service provides. Here's an example of what I mean:
"John Doe uses AOL and his email address is johndoe3867@aol.com. He wants to switch to PeoplePC but if he does his email will change to johndoe3867@peoplepc.com. He will have to provide everyone with his new email address and it is almost certain that some email will be lost in the change. Also, if he ever decides to switch ISP's again he will have to go through the same process again. By building his own website John can choose any username he likes (John@johndoe.com) and always keep that address no matter how many times his ISP changes."

Building your own website allows you to share your thoughts hopes and dreams with the world. You can provide as much or as little information as you like. Why not use a free service?
Just about every Internet Service Provider provides web space with your account and several companies offer to host your website for free. The problems with using these companies are many. One is your web address is too long and difficult to remember. Example (www.peoplepc.com/username123456/etc...)
It is just too difficult for most people to get to your website and it just doesn't look professional if you are a business.
Another problem is the limited amount of space most ISP's provide. You usually also have to let these free services post advertising on your website and you can't control who or what is being advertised!
